Honoured to represent the social enterprise sector at 10 Downing Street today with the great and the good Peter, Dave, Sarah, Alastair, Devi, Scott, James, Rose and Rebecca
Today, Richard had the privilege of attending a Social Enterprise Roundtable at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Stephanie Peacock MP. This was part of the government’s consultation on the Civil Society Covenant Framework — a significant step towards resetting the relationship between government and the social enterprise sector.
It was encouraging to see the government recognise the unique value that social enterprises create within local communities. The discussion was broad and insightful, and I took the opportunity to highlight a critical point: while it’s promising to see ambition at the central government level, we also need to empower and support local authorities to engage more deeply with the sector.
Social enterprises operate deliberately in areas of market failure, innovating new business models to drive positive impact across multiple areas — from housing and health to education and criminal justice. We look forward to continued collaboration with the government to help unlock more homes for those in housing need.
