We’re delighted that Cornerstone Place was Highly Commended in the ‘Unlocking Housing Supply’ category at the 2025 Homeless Link Excellence Awards last week.

This award celebrates organisations that are making a tangible impact on access to appropriate housing for people at risk of homelessness. We were honoured to be recognised alongside Housing Justice, with Community Ventures (Middlesbrough) Ltd receiving the top award.

This moment coincides with a broader shift in national housing policy.

Local Sites to National Policy

Just days before the awards, the Government launched the Small Sites Aggregator — a bold initiative designed to unlock small and challenging brownfield plots to help address the housing crisis.

At Cornerstone Place, this approach is nothing new. It’s how we work.

We believe in the power of small sites. Our model — 100% social housing, 0% profit — focuses on transforming these overlooked patches of land into safe, sustainable homes. We work at risk, in close collaboration with local councils and asset-locked social sector partners, to bring these developments to life.

The launch of the Small Sites Aggregator marks a welcome alignment between national strategy and frontline experience. It’s a model we’re already delivering — and one we’re ready to scale.

Why It Matters

The challenges in our housing system are profound. Temporary accommodation costs are soaring. The social housing supply is under immense strain.

We believe now is the time to act and to place assets in the hands of the impact makers to empower the social sector to deliver homes where they’re most needed.

Looking Ahead

We’re grateful to Homeless Link for recognising our work, and proud to be part of a movement that's driving change — from the ground up.

Together, we can unlock the potential of small sites, and build a housing system that puts people first.

Let’s build together.
